What a great day for Seattle Seahawks football. (The TEZ) Cortez Kennedy is in the hall of fame!
Not training camp related, but the best Seahawks defensive player in their history, finally got what he so rightfully deserved Saturday evening in Canton. Congrats, ‘Tez.

On the second weekend of Seahawks training camp, close to 2500 fans were out at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center to watch their Seahawks practice. Seahawks training camp is now challenging the Jacksonville Jaguars for 32nd in the National Football League attendance.
Small Observations
Kellen Winslow looks to be in good football shape, catching a lot of nice balls. If the offensive line is consistent this season, Winslow should have no problem putting up 50-70 receptions.
The attitude with this team is too right. Pete Carroll got the fans going, pumping them up for a bag drill. Marshawn Lynch was doing cartwheels during stretches (the day after trading jerseys with Winslow for practice) and Richard Sherman was doing a dance to the music.
The sign of a good team is the amount of fun they’re having, and Carroll and co. has this team going in the right direction.
Offense
Doug Baldwin was doing some light route running, but I don’t believe he took part in any drills for the second consecutive day. He hurt his hamstring in practice on Thursday.
Golden Tate has been the best receiver in camp thus far, and definitely the most improved on the entire team. He had the catch of the day for a second straight day, a perfectly timed jumping catch in the end zone.
Defense
Jason Jones was an absolute beast on defense again today. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a beefy extension at the end of this season. His ability to penetrate from the middle is very valuable as well.
Today belongs to TEZ. 17 years between Hall Of Famers is way to long!
The defensive line has done an excellent job thus far at getting their hands up and swatting down balls, Alan Branch and Jones especially, which will be a big threat this season with the long arms of Richard Sherman and Brandon in the secondary.
Quarterback Competition
One thing that stood out to me today is that Russell Wilson and Matt Flynn are much better at throwing the ball in stride for the receiver, something Tarvaris Jackson struggles with.
On a team that had guys like Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin who run like bulls, and speedster Ricardo Lockette, getting the ball to them in space would be a big upgrade for the offense.
It seems as though Jackson’s reps have been decreasing little by little every day of this week, which is quite telling.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
What They’re Saying
Matt Flynn met with the media after today’s practice.
When asked if practice was getting to another level yet:
“We’re past the install stage, so we have the offense in. We’re getting to the stage where we go over things; go in situations like moving the field, mock game situations. Then we’ll get into our game plan”.
When asked how practice was today:
“It was good; we installed our last phase, so getting into goal line, in our own end zone type deals. We moved the ball pretty well out there, there were some mistakes and it’s pretty disappointing when you get your time to go in there and you make a mistake like I did today”.
